Official Counter: Bill Rasku, Ted Purcell
Observers: Carole Powers, Lisa Burwell, Ted Purcell, Tom Gottschang
Visitors: The usual collection of hikers and sightseers.
Weather: A dry, windy day with clear skies. 8-12 mph winds from NNE to N. Temps from 50 to 61 F, moderate humidity. Visibility was very good.
Raptor Observations: We had a nice turnout of observers today. In addition to the regulars shown above, we got help from Dan and Laura Kelmar, Hailey Morway, and two couples from Rhode Island - Susan and Mark Sigman, and Sue and Larry Bacher. Thanks for all of your help finding the birds in the clear blue skies!
The Broad-wing flight is back to ones and twos at a time. Sharpies, Coops, Bald Eagles, Red-tails and Kestrels continue to move through in small but steady numbers.
The local Bald Eagles, Red-tails and TV's continued to soar around the area for most of the day. Non-migrating raptors: Black Vulture - 1 TV - 3 (minimum number) Bald Eagle - 3 (all Imm) Red-tail - 4
Non-raptor Observations: Canada Goose - 10 Blue Jay - 1 Comm Raven - 4 DE Junco - 8 E Towhee - 1
Predictions: Continuing cooler weather with temps from 46 to 60 F, NNE to ENE winds at 5-8 mph with low humidity, and sunny skies. We're hoping this cooler weather gets more of the birds moving, especially the TV's. Dress warmly if you come up, including hats and gloves. ======================================================================== Report submitted by ERIC MUELLER (<ericmueller1912...>) Wachusett Mountain information may be found at: http://www.massbird.org/emhw
