Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] Upcoming Closing of Tijuana River Valley Community Garden Article
Good morning,

CBS8.com has an article this morning on the upcoming (November 2025) closure of the Tijuana River Valley Community Garden. https://www.cbs8.com/article/news/local/cross-border-contamination/community-garden-closing-due-to-tijuana-river-sewage-crisis/509-c1bad444-1cfd-438a-a9c2-a421e9368868?tbref=hp

As per the article “Due to ongoing health concerns from the Tijuana River sewage crisis and increased flooding, the RCDGSDC has made the difficult decision to conclude garden management at the end of November and return the site to the County.”

I hope they can find another nearby place to relocate, perhaps the old Suzie’s Farm field is available and not subject to the flooding and contamination of the current site.

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
