Subject: [ia-bird] FOS Merlin at Glendale
Tonight (9-30) I saw my first Merlin of the season at Glendale Cemetery in
Des Moines. It was atop the spruce with the forked top in Block 20 from
7:00-7:04 p.m. Sunset was at 6:57, but I was unable to get there sooner
because I had something in the oven. I did not see which way it flew when
it left because I was trying to dig out my camera.

Doug Harr said that he saw a Merlin at Glendale two weeks ago today before
7:00 p.m. when he came down to speak at the Des Moines Audubon meeting. I
have been checking several times a week since then, but this is my first
sighting.
