Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] Flammulated Owl
Hello, I'm a long time lurker and first time writer to the group. I was pretty excited when I saw the rare eBird alert about the flammulated owl. I tried my best to go see the bird a couple days ago, but Point Loma Nazarene covers a very large area. Unfortunately, and I think understandably, people are a bit secretive about the exact location that it was spotted in, as there is concern for stressing out the bird. However, as someone new to birding, and an unknown person to the group, and wanting to be able to participate in these types of things, what's the best way to get involved? Thanks in advance!

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
