observation time: 8.75 hours

Official Counter: Craig Jackson

Observers: Bill Shapiro

Visitors:
Mark Matteutti and Carlos Felipe

Weather:
Moderate (2) NW winds with maximum gusts of 13 km/hr throughout the
watch; temperature -- 18-23°C; Cloud cover -- Day began with 100% cloud
cover;
clearing started on NW horizon; then started breaking up as cumulus clouds
moved in. Sky was never less than 75% cloud cover until last hour with 25%
cloud cover
Raptor Observations:
Smaller movement of raptors than I expected.
Non-migrating -- 1 TV, 1 BE(imm), at least two RT (adult and immature),
small accipiter
The BE was harassed by a very small accipiter (SS/CH?)as it soared

Non-raptor Observations:
Birds -- 1 Flicker, 9 Tree Swallows, 4 Crows, 2 Ravens
Monarchs - 2
Dragonflies - 2 GD

Predictions:
Whether the winds were not strong enough or there were no birds "in the
pipeline" today may be answered by tomorrow's count. West winds are
predicted to continue through the morning, so if birds are in the pipeline
we might have some movement. Clarry Hill in Maine had 51 Osprey today, so
maybe some of those birds will find their way to the Rock.
