Today's (Sep. 29) count was decent by recent standards with 101 species on light to moderate NE winds. (We're all dying for some roaring NW cold fronts). The migrant raptors comprised 9 seasonally expected species with highs of c. 30 Ospreys and 20 Cooper's Hawks. There were also 10 Bald Eagles.
Noteworthy was one of the mass Blue Jay movements for which Lighthouse is noted. These are not easy to quantify, but over the years I've developed a system for generating what I think is a reasonable number that's more than a general estimate. Today's number is 2100. I also came up with 540 Cedar Waxwings.
Also noteworthy was one Red-headed Woodpecker, three Dickcissels, about 15 Bobolinks and a few Purple Finch.
