Official Counter: Jen Lee

Observers: Diane Stewart

Visitors:
Carol from Mcveytown, helped spot for 3 hrs. A local veteran stopped with
his 2 dogs, chatted a bit and then took the recently shot up "horse/buggy"
caution sign that was just put up 9/27/25. Said he knows the Penndot sign
crew and would get it replaced. It was laying in the gravel at edge of
parking lot upon my arrival.

Weather:
Mostly cloudy, light inconsistent winds, all day. Warmer than it should be.

Raptor Observations:
Slow start to flight, picked up as the day progressed. Nice mix of 8
species. Most were fairly high. First bird Peregrine 8:23, last birds -
group of 9 Broadies at 3:40, dropping out, kettled over the parking lot
nicely. Tried to get to 9k BWs but came up 10 short. No TVs or BVs counted,
although the TVs were in larger groups together and even travelled down
ridge at one point in what looked like migration but then not long after a
bunch came back. It looked like a practice run! Also not counted: 2 adult
BEs, some Redtails, BVs.

Non-raptor Observations:
Monarchs won the day with 44 ! Dozens of Robins early perched around the
watch area, very chatty. Pileated, blue jays, downy, flicker, a.crow,
ravens, towhee, chickadees, rb nuthatch. Need several cold nights to
decrease the lanternflies, stink bugs and gnats!

Predictions:
Reach milestone of 9000 Broadwings for the season !!
