Subject: David Chapman and Mulhollan Blind
UA-Fayetteville professor and researcher, David Chapman (retired) was visiting Mulhollan Blind at Lake Fayetteville Park today. David was instrumental in the original effort in 2014 to build the blind. He and wife Ruth now live in Colorado.
His book, The Bird Life and History of Lake Fayetteville, is posted on the website of Northwest Arkansas Audubon Society: https://nwarkaudubon.org/PDFs/History%20and%20Birdlife%20of%20Lake%20Fayetteville%20%28May%202016%29.pdf.
This photo is from today. To David’s left you can see framed artwork by Donna Mulhollan. It is thought the fire that destroyed the original blind in August 2024 may originated in the trash can inside the blind. Donna’s felt is an effort to encourage visitors to take their trash with them. It is only about 1/3 of a mile back to the trail parking. "Leave No Trace" shouldn’t be much of a burden.
It is OK to take the link to David’s book and have it printed and bound as you see fit. It is full of data about bird life and the fascinating history of the land that is now Lake Fayetteville Park.
