Neotropic Cormorant (Nannopterum brasilianum) (1)

- San Geronimo Ck--Estero Bluffs SP, San Luis Obispo, California

- Comments: "White sitting in my car I spotted a rather slim and long tailed cormorant fly into the eucalyptus tree closest to the creek mouth. I set up my scope and confirmed my initial impression that the bird was a Neotropic Cormorant. Curtis and I walked out to the bluff and then beach for better looks and photos. The relatively small pointed gular patch and lack of yellow in the lores along with the slim build and long tail all pointed to Neotropic Cormorant. Before we left the parking area a Double-crested Cormorant perched in the same tree and was noticeable bigger and shorter tails. (Photos)"

- Comments: "Continuing three juveniles, just as yesterday (9/25/25). Today one was on the on-shore rocks (photos #1 - #4) across from the boat ramp and the two others were perched on different vessels: "Janice R" (photos #5 - #7) and "CF 8668 TA" (photos #8 - #12).
Presumably two of them are the ones we observed at this location in the morning of 9/6/25 and again on 9/7/25, 9/8/25, 9/12/25 and 9/25/25. One juvenile was first present here on 9/4/25 and could have been the same individual reported on 9/3/25 at the Morro Bay SP Marina.
All three have a dark, stout bill with varying amounts of yellow feathers at the base of the lower mandible; small white triangular spots on the covert feathers."

- Comments: "Foy for me. Appeared to be multiples. Both were seen foraging high in pines around campsites 16-17. Once the sun popped out around noon I returned to this area hoping warblers would be more active, which they were. Took quite a while to ID these birds. Most notable were the triangular grey-brown cheek patches and black-and-grey striped backs. Also, white undertails, yellowy throats and chests, dark streaks on flanks, double-white wingbars, and a black outer-tail swoosh that distinguishes this species when observing from below. Two other birders helped in observations. Photos"

- Comments: "Possibly continuing from yesterday evening when one was found at the creek mouth. In pines at campsites 16 and 17. I first heard this bird chipping, so came to the area and saw a small drab warbler with yellow undertail coverts bobbing its tail. The bird was sometimes flying out of a pine to shrubs, but preferred to forage up in pine. I waved a birder over pointed out the bird. I didnt recognize the birder. I later brought two other birders to the area to observe the warbler. The bird was very brown-streaky on its chest, had a red-brown crown and dark eyeline. Photos"
