Subject: [Ohio-birds] Migration - yes!
The past few nights have seen record numbers of birds overhead! I have
No idea how it’s calculated, but nice to know! I plugged in various counties
Into bird cast as I was eating breakfast this early am. The numbers increased
Greatly as I went west to east. From Dearborn Indiana to Lawrence ohio. But
It’s still a matter of where they come down though. No oceans or bays stopping
Things here. They will stop when ready. I think the best migrant spot in
Clinton county is that east fork riparian area. I was going to hit the last
BOG butterfly trip to Shawnee forest, but not with this migration event
Going on! Birds first! It’s an hour for me to get there, and no way am I driving
Those narrow roads in the dark. Deer. So I didn’t start til 8:20 or so? I thought
A nice morning. And I know I missed stuff.

Clinton up to 194 for life. 176 for the big year. Cedar waxwing new for both.
Yea! Finally……

I hit Cowan lake spots next. Slow. As to be expected. I still had time so hit Caesar
Creek Warren for a try for the red phalarope. Success! Thanks to a fellow birder! A
Really good look at the marina area. That was nice! Much better than the
Mile away or so look off of harveysburg rd the other day……. Gee - Red Phalarope
For the Warren big year. And I am missing Least Sandpiper…… such is birding!

Butterfly notes - loads of the usual fall species around. Monarchs, buckeyes,
ET blues, crescents. Etc.

Good birding all.
