Joe Alsadi found a Flammulated Owl somewhere on the S side of Point Loma Nazarene university this afternoon (exact location will only be shared privately if you can’t find the many other birders staking out the site. Feel free to contact me for info). The bird is still present and being observed by many. Due to the position of the bird’s roost, a “line” has been formed and the only real way to see it without getting too close is by kneeling down and looking up into the tree. I was only present for a few minutes but please do not cut the line or go too close-the bird is being mobbed by both passerines (apparently swinhoes white eyes do this too) as well as people. I also want to add that I checked the tree the bird is in 3 times this morning, and the bird was undoubtedly not present, at least not in that tree. This leads me to believe that it was accidentally flushed once from a desperate roost, so please be aware of this.
Just a word of cation as the bird is clearly a little stressed out. Hopefully everyone gets to see the bird so long as it’s not flushed.
