Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] Broad-winged Hawk at Mt Soledad late this morning
Haim Weizman and decided to do a hawk-watch at Mt Soledad and were there
from approximately 10:30-1. I even brought portable chairs.

The BWHA was already past us at 11:45 when I noticed it (didn't know what
it was) and hit the panic button, barely enough time to get some marginal
photos as it flew fairly fast and high overhead southbound, slightly west
of the peak. The family of ravens was sort of chasing it, but not as
determinedly as they were going after the RTHA at other times. We thought
this might be something good and have just had an opportunity to conduct a
review of the photos on large screens and are now posting.

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
