Weather:
Heavy rain began falling along Blue Mountain around 18:00 last night. Based
on the leaf debris in the trail it appears to have rained pretty hard up at
Bake Oven Knob overnight. A stubborn fog clung to Blue Mountain until
approximately 11:00 when the ceiling lifted and rapid clearing occurred. At
noon a count was initiated in light SE winds at 1-3mph. Visibility was
limited during the entire count at 3 miles due to a low fog in Lehigh
Valley. Cloudy skies for the entire survey, but when the count was
initiated, there was partial clearing and the ceiling lifted considerably.
It almost looked as if the sun might burn through. Low temperature of 21C
at noon and a high of 22C by 13:00.

BAEA (1): 13:21 A

A condensed flight occurred in the afternoon once the fog lifted off of
Blue Mountain. Birds were moving within minutes of my arrival with 3 SS’s
dogfighting out over the notch at noon. A lone BW crossed from the N side
of the notch, flew through the bowl and winged past BG. The 13:00 hour
another 7 SS’s moved through. For the first time this season they led
the flight with 20 total for the day. I also picked up two RS’s traveling
together which worked hard to gain altitude directly over the OP. An
immature NH also flew through the notch from the N, thend down the bowl and
came in close below the cliff. The flight came to a halt in the 14:00 hour
with not even TV’s seen which is a first. Migrating raptors were flying
the lowest I have seen them this season and all were visible naked eye.

No resident raptors were detected.

Non-raptor Observations:
BLJA migration continues to ramp up. Stinkbug populations are stable and
expanding daily at the OP.

Wild Turkey 1
Mourning Dove 1
Red-bellied Woodpecker 1
Downy Woodpecker 1
Pileated Woodpecker 2
Northern Flicker 1

American Goldfinch 1

Predictions:
Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 74. South wind 5 to 10 mph.
Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and
three quarters of an inch possible.
