All,
Realizing that my potentially hectic October schedule might prevent me getting out to SCI this fall, I made a last minute decision to head out to Scorpion today.
On arrival, I quickly found the previously reported Dickcissel but otherwise things mostly appeared pretty quiet. However after lunch when the hubbub of campers and rangers tailed off, things picked up.
First up was a Magnolia Warbler followed by a Indigo Bunting that joined the Dickcissel flock, along with a Brewer's Sparrow. Heading back up the Canyon, I found a Chestnut-sided Warbler before a final check of the wash near the pier turned a nice mixed spizella flock with a Brewer's and two Clay-colored.
