Date: 9/23/25 2:35 pm From: Mietron Shahbodaghloo <m.shahbodaghloo...> Subject: [cobirds] Grand Valley Audubon Banding Station - Bird Conservancy of the Rockies (09/23/25) – Mesa Co.
Just like yesterday, the white-crown sparrows are moving. Today we had one
of each Gambel’s and the Mountain subspecies. The winds last night seemed
to not help with migration. We had no warblers and many of our birds were
year-round residents that likely aren’t migrating besides the sparrows.
*8 Newly Banded Birds:*
American Robin: 1
Bewick’s Wren: 1
Gambel’s White-crowned Sparrow: 1
House Finch: 1
Mourning Dove: 1
Mountain White-crowned Sparrow: 1
Spotted Towhee: 2
*0 Recaptured Birds:*
The station will operate daily (Monday-Friday) from around 7:00a-1:00p
(weather dependent) until October 10th.
We’re located at James M Robb Colorado River State Park by the Kingfisher
parking lot. Follow the yellow signs pointing to the banding station! Feel
free to stop by when we’re around! Or join us on our Public Day on Sept 27th
.
