Central Park, Manhattan, N.Y. City - Monday, Sept. 22 -

At least 20 species of migratory American warblers were still showing in Central Park, as seen by great numbers of observers in not-for-profit guided walks as well as independently throughout the day. Among the many warbler species still being found were Hooded, Cape May, and Bay-breasted Warblers along with the many other species still being seen and photographed.

Many species of migratory thrush were still being seen as well, including Gray-cheeked, Wood, Swainsons, and some Hermit Thrushes plus slightly-late-now Veery. Of flycatchers, a number of observers and photographers found Great Crested Flycatcher again, as well as Least Flycatchers, E. Wood Pewees, and Eastern Phoebes, the latter 2 species in some numbers.

Much the same waterfowl of recent days were still around the park, with Wood Ducks, Green-winged Teal, Gadwall, American Black Duck, N. Shovelers and the usual motley Mallards, and canada-turfgrass Geese. Over all of the park and for all of the day on Monday, at least 95 species of wild and native birds were seen.

Out on Randalls Island, a Lark Sparrow continued to sunset-hour on Monday, 9-22, however it may have moved slightly southeast to a different sports-field area and by edges of the shore, perhaps just 500 feet or less from where most observers found it earlier, by Field 42 at the edge of the shore.

Good birding,
