I’ve seen several folks commenting on their FOS White-crowned Sparrows in recent days, and, indeed, we had our FOS gambelii White-crowned Sparrow in our yard in Atascadero yesterday (although, we had been out of town for the 4 days prior to yesterday, so it may have arrived earlier). That bird was present throughout the day today. Just minutes ago, I looked out in the backyard, and along with that lone White-crowned Sparrow, was an adult Golden-crowned Sparrow, also our first of the season.
