Subject: [nysbirds-l] Lark Sparrow, Randalls Island, NYC, Monday, Sept. 22
Randalls Island, just east of Manhattan in N.Y. county and part of New York City -
Monday, September 22nd -

At Randalls Island around the noon hour, a brightly plumaged Lark Sparrow was found and photographed - M. Waldron - by the Field 42 backstop area which is in the northeast portion of Randalls, and the sparrow noticed on or around rocks where orange warning signage is up, Work Zone Ahead says the sign. The sparrow was present there to past noon and could linger at least all day in the vicinity if no non-birder disturbance occurs in the immediate area.
…
A few days late on one report just lately-confirmed with photo-documentation, a Saltmarsh Sparrow was still present at Washington Market Park into Friday 9-19, days after the majority of observers had come seeking or had seen it. The recently-added photos and more textual notes are now archived in the Macaulay library with eBird as a confirmed sighting, and confirmed report of this days Randalls Island Lark Sparrow is already noted for Monday Sept. 22nd sightings.

Thanks to all finders and reporters, and peaceful birding to all,

Tom Fiore
