Subject: ASCA field trip report
Today, Saturday September 20 was the Audubon Society of Central Arkansas' field trip to Gillam Park in south Little Rock. We were looking for migrating fall warblers.  Unfortunately the warblers didn't get the notice and we only found one each of a Wilson's, a Blue-winged, a Tennessee, a Nashville, a Chestnut-sided, and two Northern Parulas.  The vireos were fairly vocal and we added White-eyed, Yellow-throated, and Red-eyed Vireos to our list.  Two Catbirds put in an appearance giving us a nice mix of 31 species for Gillam. We finished the morning at the Audubon Center and walked the loop trail behind the Center. We saw a total of 16 species which included three Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, a Mississippi Kite, a Chimney Swift, and a Red-shouldered Hawk.  It was a fun morning with good birding friends and very comfortable weather. Karen Holliday ASCA field trip coordinator
