Hi, all!

This morning, 23 eager birders joined me for Mountaineer Audubon's fall
field trip to Little Indian Creek. We time this field trip to hope to align
with high migrant diversity/volume and the peak window to view Connecticut
Warblers in WV. While we were successful in finding Connecticut Warblers,
it was a remarkably quiet morning overall and we really had to work for the
species we saw. Always difficult with such a big group. Magnolia Warbler
was the most the most common migrant warbler we came across. Surprisingly
few Palm Warblers as well for this location which can be crawling with them
in the fall. Sparrow numbers and diversity were also pretty low. The
Yellow-bellied Flycatcher at least provided a treat as it actively fed and
perched in the open for many to enjoy. I want to thank everyone who came
out to enjoy a lovely fall morning birding in the Mountain State. Special
thanks to Hannah, Cindy, Tristan, and Tehya who helped find and get
participants on birds. I think I have shared eBird lists with everyone who
indicated they wanted it. If I missed anyone, please let me know, and I
will get that to you. Keep up to date with future Mountaineer Audubon field
trip offerings on our website: https://www.mountaineeraudubon.org/ or
Facebook page. And mark your calendars for the Morgantown CBC which will
Saturday, December 20, 2025. More information on that to follow in the next
