- Comments: "Juvenile in brush along the southeast bank about half-way to the creek mouth. I saw three Black-crowned fly from the creek before I spotted this bird. It appeared dark for a juvenile Black-crowned. Closer inspection showed a mostly dark bill and small marks on the wings, though they were less prominent than the birds currently at Morro Bay. It appeared that the small white triangles and the tip of the wing feathers were worn and not at all as prominent as on a fresh juvenile. The chin and base of the lower mandible were yellowish and the head and at least the breast were streaked. See photos for more details."

- Comments: "First-year bird last seen and heard at campsite ten. First heard its sharp falling smooth chip in the straightaway between camp loops, where it chipped and foraged high in a pine, fanning its tail. Later, after I returned from exploring the second camp loop and trail east of that area, I again heard the bird chipping, this time in the first camp loop. The bird had a pale white underside, including throat, with yellow-orange upper shoulder patches and a light yellow orange wash on its chest and near its whitish undertail coverts and a bit on its belly. The base of its tail was yellow-orange, while the rest of its often-fanned tail was dark grey. Much of its upperparts was dark grey, including its wings, upper tail, and head—couldn’t see its back. Its lores were even darker. The base of its secondaries made for a bright yellow-orange wingbar, and it had a pale broken eyering. The chip was sporadic in occurrence, but always sweet, smooth, falling and sharp. The bird, while I was taking pics, stayed high in under-canopy. At campsite ten it was about three-fourths of the way up in a pine. Fairly high up. Photos"
