Subject: [CT Birds] McKinney Pond/Warehouse Pond Update
*McKinney Pond/Warehouse Pond Stratford CT update*

It gives me great pleasure to announce we have heard back *Positively *from
USFWS regarding the proposed “opening up the pond to the marsh waters”, the
following is the email I received today:

*Pausing Adaptive Management at Great Meadows Unit of Stewart B. McKinney
NWR*

*The adaptive management project at the Great Meadows Unit to reconnect a
3-acre man-made pond to the marsh has been temporarily paused to allow for
additional community engagement. Updates and additional information on
this project will be available on our website and **Facebook page*
<https://www.facebook.com/SBMcKinneyNWR>*.*

This is our opportunity to enlighten USFWS on our observations on the
importance of keeping this pond intact (or enhancing) as the oasis it has
become for so many threatened endangered species as well as species of
special concern.

How we do that is open to all suggestions.

I for one have compiled all the photos of the species I have seen thriving
there over the past 8 years..Please do the same..eBird has stats for sure,
but I know there are many birders that visit this site that do not post on
eBird..I welcome and encourage you all to gather your photos, memories and
data to share with this effort to safe this special place.

I'm sure there will be a specific time period or date when our comments,
concerns and suggestions will be heard..so now is the time to prepare for
that..

Again many, many thanks for your efforts to support this vital avian
habitat.
