Hi Birders
The low volume of birds in the Sebastopol area, despite prolific Birdcast <https://birdcast.info/> estimates, has been discouraging lately, but there are some migrants to report from yesterday's stops at Bodega Bay and Estero Rd (Sonoma-Marin county line).
Not much at Bodega Bay stops (Owl Canyon, Hole in the Head, Bodega Dunes Camp), but it was nice to see about a dozen HEERMANN'S GULLS at Campbell's Cove. About half didn't have their lipstick yet.
Above Shoreline Hwy at Mantua Gulch, there was a SWAINSON'S HAWK that meandered towards town.
RED-NECKED PHALAROPE and PECTORAL SANDPIPER were in with peeps at Estero Rd ponds. The Phalarope had the needle bill and the Pectoral was much larger than the peeps w/ densely streaked breast that had an abrupt lower border.
Up the way from there, towards the end of Marsh Rd in the enormous eucs, were a handful of LARK SPARROWS, which I've seen in this area before.
Hoping for more migrants and NB reports in the next few weeks.
