I was birding in High Island Texas 6 years ago and met a lady who loved her Costco hearing aids. I was surprised, Costco sells hearing aids? Sure enough, they are a major retailer of hearing aids. My hearing had been bad for years so I bought some from Costco that same year. Mine still work great 6 years later. I can hear many of the warblers and other birds I was missing before.
They cost around $1500 per pair back then. I looked it up and they’re currently $1500-3000 . The cost included Costco audiologists testing my hearing and making sure my hearing aids were set up properly for my degree of hearing loss. They subsequently clean them and test them for free every few months. I highly recommend Costco.
There are Costcos in Little Rock, Springfield, and Tulsa.

I have a feeling that a lot of us gray-haired folks might find this interesting. I can't hear a lot of my warblers much anymore, and it kills me.

A friend of mine who has lost his ability to hear several birds species ask me about hearing aids that others have successfully used. I told him that I would post his question on ARBIRD list. If you have helpful info for him, please respond to this email snf make sure ARBIRD is included in the response (not just me). He is interested in obtaining hearing aids that can be purchased on the market (that is, not requiring a doctor prescription). He would like make and approx. Cost if possible.
