Observation start time: 08:00:00 Observation end time: 15:00:00 Total observation time: 7 hours
Official Counter: John Mercer
Observers:
Weather: Beautiful day for hawk watching, fairly comfortable, Temperatures moving into the upper 70's, winds mostly North, nice clouds most of the day.
Raptor Observations: Two Bald Eagles sailed by high over the 911 Memorial Service. Local adult and juvenile Red-Shouldered, Cooper's, Red-tail, TV and BV
Non-raptor Observations: Started day with a flock of birds in the larger Weeping Cherry. Some got away, before I decided I needed to check it out, but I had at least 10 Chipping Sparrow, 3 Red-eyed Vireo, a Black and White, a Chestnut-sided Warbler and an American Redstart. Later in the day, Four Common Night Hawks out over the copper beeches. Two Double-crested Cormorant.
Predictions: Tomorrow should be similar, a little warmer, winds moving to the East as the day progresses and clouds building. Maybe we will get lucky, Wagner's Gap had over 400 Broadwings, so they are moving by on the west side of the mountains, hopefully, they will get pushed to us, although East winds won't help. ======================================================================== Report submitted by John Mercer (<mercer1135...>) Rose Tree Park information may be found at: www.rtphawkwatch.org
