Subject: [NEBirds] Chadron State Park Banding Week 3 (9/9-9/13) #CSPBanding
Hi Nebraska birders,

I lost basically the entire day on the 11th to high winds, so I only had
four banding days this past week. Overall numbers are still low, but there
was a slight uptick in migrants with two more Wilson's Warbler and my first
Orange-crowned Warbler of the season. In this week's edition of "common
birds that we rarely catch," I caught a Blue Jay, only the second ever
banded at Chadron. Also exciting for me was our first Yellow-breasted Chat
of the season. They are caught every year at Chadron but in very low
numbers. I had never had one in the hand before, so I was very glad to
finally catch one.

Hopefully, the upcoming fronts and predicted cooler weather will bring in
more migrants this coming week.

Red-headed Woodpecker: 2
Blue Jay : 1
Black-capped Chickadee: 6 all repeats from earlier in the season
Red-breasted Nuthatch: 1
Northern House Wren: 4
American Robin: 3
Orange-crowned Warbler: 1
Wilson's Warbler: 2
Spotted Towhee: 1
Yellow-breasted Chat: 1

Alan
