Subject: [sbcobirding] Continuing Masked Booby and SBI pelagic report
All,

The adult Masked Booby was seen again on Santa Barbara Island on the booby colony pelagic trip out of Ventura on Sep 5. Blue-footed and Cocos Boobies were present as usual.

On the outbound and inbound route, we had numerous (25+) Craveri's Murrelets, multiple Long-tailed Jaegers and Sabine's Gulls, Common and Arctic Terns, while the shearwaters included a lone Buller's Shearwater. Seems like a good year in So Cal for that species.

There were hundreds of storm-petrels, mostly Blacks with smaller numbers of Ashy. We had a couple of Least Storm-Petrels, with good looks at one of these.

The trip report is at: https://ebird.org/tripreport/411865

The final trip of the season to the booby colony will be on Oct 14, out of Ventura.

Regards,

Nick Lethaby
