Hi everyone,
Two things.
1. People looking at the photos think this bird is probably an Alder. To
quote a former Santa Barbara resident and celebrity birder: "I pretty much
vote Alder."
2. People have found the directions confusing. Sorry about that. The
"beach" I referred to is the refuge shoreline, not the big sandy area next
to the ocean. Do not go to the ocean. The parking area for the Andree Clark
Bird Refuge is on Los Patos Way (not signed that I remember) off Cabrillo
Blvd immediately south of U.S. 101. By request, I also will provide
coordinates. Stand here and look left:
34.421809°, -119.658120°
If you don't see the bird, then try looking right. Every now and then, it
might fly over your head.
