The sugar water needs to be changed daily with heated feeders. Even in cold weather the heat sours the sugar water very fast. P.S. I change may feeders daily all summer long. Sent from my Galaxy Tab® S2

Most I have seen & own attach to the bottom of a standard pan (dish) type feeder... either one with a bottle above or just the pan.   Usually need one with built in perches on the pan to which to hook the heater.    Heater contains a small nightlight type bulb
that keeps the water just above freezing.   It plugs into a nearby socket.   Not expensive.    Once you get a winter hummingbird you will never not put one out.    Especially when the rest of the world is solid ice & this tiny bird is feasting on your little
offering of sugared water.
