- Atascadero Lake, San Luis Obispo, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-120.6667256&<ll...>,-120.6667256 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S272937500 - Media: 2 Photos
- Comments: "Larger than spotty. Greenish legs and bill base. Spotted on top, not bottom. Pretty sure I saw three on the shore of the island, but by the time I got there, only two remained."
Little Blue Heron (Egretta caerulea) (1)
- Reported Sep 12, 2025 08:04 by Nick & Jane
- Laguna Lake, San Luis Obispo, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-120.6903817&<ll...>,-120.6903817 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S272967041 - Comments: "Continuing. Seen on north lake perch from lakeside park area (typically seen on this perch from south lake). I was later in the paved loop clearing when the heron flew about thirty yards in front of me, landed in the water, caught a fish or a crab and flew off. Managed a crummy flight photo. And also a very distant photo when I was at the park. Small white heron, green-yellow legs and feet, dark-tipped bill, pale eye."
Virginia's Warbler (Leiothlypis virginiae) (1)
- Reported Sep 12, 2025 14:05 by Nick & Jane
- Meadow Park--San Luis Obispo, San Luis Obispo, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-120.6606531&<ll...>,-120.6606531 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S273002761 - Comments: "Continuing first-year, light-grey warbler with yellow undertail coverts and no tail. When I arrived to the Casa Diablo area in the southeastern area of the park, I joined some birders already in the location. No sooner than I walked up, the bird flew out of the northwest, at a downward angle to the upper portion of a bottlebrush tree, where the bird immediately began calling. Its chip was short and rising, similar to a Nashville, slightly more emphatic, and it called several times. We could see the plump grey warbler atop the right side of the tree from where we were facing north. The warbler was a bit hidden at times, occasionally revealing its size, shape and greyness. It then popped out and flew southeastward into a tree. Didn’t note any yellow on breast, and didn’t see its head well enough for an eyering glimpse. It was kind of cute without its tail, like a feathery little balloon with wings. Seen by around five people. No photo."
