Subject: Chimney Swift roost in Newburg
I am resending this message because apparently my first one had some
problems.
I got this message from Jerry Decker, Rolla, MO:

Sept 13, 2025: Our chapter was told that Chimney Swifts were roosting in
the chimney at the old Newburg High School building. Nina and I had to
check it out. KY3.s weather app said sunset was at 7:17. We arrived at
6:30. The first swift appeared at 7:14. Really got going about 5 minutes
later. By 7:35 it had started tapering off. Last swift we saw was at 7:44.
If I said there were 2,000 birds that is probably a conservative number.

This is the only swift roost I know of. I was told the old high school at
Salem used to have a roost in its chimney, but the building was torn down
quite a few years ago.

Forwarding this information at Jerry's request. Great fun!!!
