Subject: [nysbirds-l] Saltmarsh Sparrow, Manhattan NYC Saturday, 9/13
A photographed SALTMARSH Sparrow was seen at the Washington Market Park in Manhattans Greenwich Village area again on Saturday, September 13th - K. Figueroa - with confirmation thru eBird and the photos now archived in the Macaulay Library. This species has turned up in the recent past years in Manhattan, sometimes previously also in our smaller, less-birder parks as well as in the past at Central Park and elsewhere in New York County. A nice addition to the migrants of the season here. Note that the Saturday sighting was quite late in the day and that bird was seen the day-before but Saturday allowed for confirming views and photos.
....
On the warbler-front recently, more Connecticut Warblers have shown up in Manhattan including at Central Park again. Close scrutiny of skulking shy ground-loving warblers may turn up still more of that species. Altogether on 9-13 and from just Central Park - confirmed, reliable sightings placed in eBird, many also photographed, there were at least 22 species of migratory American warblers seen there on Saturday.

Good birding,

Tom Fiore
