I visited the Eastern side of the lagoon yesterday afternoon and found that the lagoon hasn't breached into the Pacific yet, so it's overflowing its banks (the trail). I came back this morning and had my wading boots on and it was about 14" deep in places, about an inch from the top of my boots at its deepest. It was like walking through the Amazon, mosquitoes included. It was very quiet on the eastern edge save for a few Wilson's Warblers, Yellow Warbler, and an early season Yellow-rumped warbler. I used a hand saw to cut through some of the downed trees, so it's passable, but barely. Only for the adventurous. 41 species in total, but not a ton of migrants yet.
