The forecast is favorable for good hawk-watching conditions on Thursday around the Hills. The cloudy rainy weather we've had for days should lift in the afternoon, along with a north wind. That is very similar to conditions on Sept. 23, 2004 when I saw hundreds of hawks, mostly Red-tailed's, flying south along the hogback (Skyline Dr.) in Rapid City. As it happens I'll be in Rapid tomorrow so hope to make it up to Skyline for a look.
