Official Counter: Michele Varricchio
Observers: Adam Bradley, Chad Schwartz, Elizabeth Schwartz, Kathie Romano
Visitors: Once the clouds cleared and the sun warmed the air, the raptor parade was on, led by a lone Monarch. The count was only possible with the team effort of all who joined in at the South Lookout: the 22 observers on the guided walk and their guides, Felice and Greg Grammes; LGNC leader Chad and Elizabeth Schwartz; the legendary Ed Wanamaker, Mary Coover, John Hoffert, Rick Klinger, Brian and Sarah, Adi, Sage, the so very helpful Kathie Romano, and finally clean up at the end of the day, Adam Bradley! There were 125 visitors.
Weather: Calm Southwest winds for most of the day, 0-3 mph. Temps 62-77F. Early morning partly sunny skies were short lived, and the South Lookout was socked in the clouds until 0930 after which the skies cleared with 15 mile visibility. Clouds returned mid afternoon; the ceiling lifted near the end of the day.
Non-raptor Observations: 3 Hummingbirds, 3 Common Raven Pileated Woodpecker, Red Breasted Nuthatch
Predictions: Variable calm winds from the North and Northeast with some gusts to 10 mph in the afternoon. Temps warm to mid 80's from a low of 58F at 0600.
