The Sunday morning bird walk produced 44 species on September 14th at Ft. Harrison State Park, Indianapolis. Highlights included Philadelphia Vireo, Veery, Wilson's Warbler, and Red-breasted Nuthatch. We finished the walk watching a male Red-breasted Nuthatch at the set of White Pines visible as you begin entering Delaware Lake parking lot. The bird would get a seed from the cone and fly across the road to eat and then return for another seed. We watched the bird do this several times as it was quite entertaining.
There will be a bird walk each Sunday in September and October at Ft. Harrison State Park. Meet at 8am in the NE corner of Delaware Lake parking lot. Below is the full checklist for Sept 14th.
