Subject: [cobirds] Chico Basin Ranch Banding Station- Bird Conservancy of the Rockies-9/16/2025
A light northwest wind that carried into first light brought us some
Wilson's Warblers. IT still is fairly quiet for the first hour or so. Ten
bird species were captured. The recaptures were a mixed bag with most of
them gaining weight or only losing a tenth of a gram. There are plenty of
insects for the warblers to eat here. So food availability should not be an
issue for fattening up for the trip south. In between net checks, Kara ID'd
a male Ruby-throated Hummingbird at the feeder.

*45 New Banded Birds*
Wilson's Warbler- 24
Orange-crowned Warbler- 6
Chipping Sparrow- 1
Lincoln's Sparrow- 6
Gambel's White-crowned Sparrow- 3
Green-tailed Towhee- 1
Western Tanager- 1
Brown Thrasher- 1
American Robin- 2

*4 Recaptures- banded this season and recaptured a different day*
Wilson's Warbler- 2
Lincoln's Sparrow- 1
Blue Grosbeak- 1

Wishing you all the best birding this week! The banding station will be
open tomorrow through Saturday from Sunrise until @ noon. Please share you
sightings if birding the ranch. Sign up on the Aiken Audubon Website if
wish to bird or visit the ranch.
