Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] Hot Spots for eBird 3rd week of Sept. Monday Sept. 15 - Sunday Sept. 21 - One year anniversary edition
Greetings

So this week marks one year since I sent out the first email on this community project. At the time I really didn’t know how it would be received, but I’m pleased to say that community support has been strong. Over the year an additional 107 hot spots have joined the 331 hot spots previously completed. So there are now 438 hot spots out of the county’s 1235 hot spots that have filled out bar charts. I plan to continue to send out these emails to the end of this year. An additional 54 hot spots have the potential to be filled out this year. We are now past the peak weeks and the lists will be much smaller. This week we have 23 that are in the 10 or less checklists needed. 5 just need a checklist this week. They are highlighted in red.

Special thanks to Ruslan Balagansky for his maps and other data queries.

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
