Subject: [sbcobirding] Sands Beach, Coal Oil Point Reserve
A Red-necked Phalarope was trying to remove oil from its feathers on the
beach. The sub-adult *Common Tern* allowed a photo comparison with a
Forster's Tern of the same age. The juvenile *Red Knot* was in the surf
zone immediately west of the iron stanchion on the beach (near the Pond
Trail). The Dune Pond had no birds on the mudflat. Photos in the
checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S273435341
