Twenty four of us gathered at Myers Point for today's Thursday Birding Meetup, in hopes of seeing migrants out at the point. Well... not many migrants this morning but we did see a semipalmated plover amidst the mallards and gulls, and enjoyed close views of a trumpeter swan pair. Several of us migrated over to Salt Point where we had better luck, seeing 22 species (thanks to Tracy McLellan for our ebird lists and Jody Enck for leading us). It was a bit challenging since most birds were on the quiet side and a steady breeze ruffled the leaves so that simply noting movement was not easy. That said, we did come up with a couple of warblers and some vireos. We appreciated seeing the usual osprey as well as a young eagle who was truly trying out his moves in the wind. Nine of us enjoyed breakfast at the Eastshore Roadhouse which has become our go-to breakfast spot when we're birding up in the Lansing area. Want to bird with us next Thursday Sept 11? We'll gather at 7:00 am at Shindagin Hollow. From Ithaca, take Route 79 east to West Slaterville and turn right on Boiceville Road. Turn left on Central Chapel Road and go 3 miles to a Y. Take the left fork which is Shindagin Hollow Road and travel about .6 mile to the state forest boundary and the parking area. Shelley Page *she/they/ki*
