Subject: [NHBirds] 17 Nighthawks - Franklin Falls
The great river dried up tonight.  I was expecting a diminution but not like this.  The crying shame is that I had two most excellent assistants on hand, namely, Randy Langer and Shipp Webb, but no work for them.  (Where were you guys two days ago?)
The weather was the same tonight as the previous 3 nights but no nighthawks.  The best bird of the count was a pair of southbound Greater Yellowlegs reeled in by Randy.  It's possible some of the raptors we saw were also migrants.  If it doesn't rain tomorrow favorable winds are in the forecast.
