Subject: [Ohio-birds] Clinton - big year birding
I checked my calendar. Next week I’ll be in Indiana for a retreat. So limited
Amount of time for Clinton and Warren next week! So no ASO field trip to
Shawnee lookout this morning for me. I am doing poorly, but am trying my
Best in Warren and Clinton! I hit Clinton county today. Migrants around, but
Hard work getting on them. For example, it took me say 5 minutes to finally
Get a good enough look on a first year female cape May to realize what it was!
It was 50 ft. high in an oak tree. Magnolia around. I finally got Black and White
For the county - East Fork riparian area. I hit here in the afternoon when Cowan
Lake got too crowded for me….. last day of summer, good weather. Eeeks.
Boaters and swimmers! No cedar waxwings. After meeting another birder who
Had dozens……. That’s now officially my Clinton jinx bird……

That marsh at east fork riparian looks very nice! The wet summer we had.
And I finally got something out of it! Marsh wren. Yea! Still no Sora…..

But the highlight of the day was finally running into Larry and Jill Early. We
Talked Clinton county! And birds in general. I hope to take them up on the invite
To their house. Their yard sounds great! I am redoing my backyard here in
Oakley. I wish the deer would disappear…..

Good birding all. I need a dusk watch soon up in both counties. Nighthawks!
I've been hoping for a day flying one. No such luck!
