8/27 Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center, 9:45am-12:45PM. low tide-rising, sunny, 70F. Beautiful day on the marsh, watching the shorebirds gathering. Several visitors who were very curious about our migrating ospreys. On the marsh: 5 D.C. Cormorants (1 with wings spread-drying off in the sun), 2 Snowy Egrets, 14 Great egrets clustered together further out in the marsh, 15 Black bellied plovers foraging in the mud, 1 Willet and 3 ospreys coasting over. Several "peeps" further out that I couldn't identify. On the grounds: 4 Mourning doves, 4 Northern Cardinals, 2 Carolina wrens, 4 House finches, 2 American Goldfinches, 1 Common yellowthroat in the bushes, 1 Catbird in the birdbath, 9 House sparrows, and Merlin identified an Eastern Kingbird.
