On this date (Aug 27) in 2017, a Winchester, CT homeowner photographed a MEXICAN VIOLETEAR in his yard. This provided the first and only CT record of this Mexican hummingbird species that is a rare vagrant to northern latitudes.
Be on the lookout for any large green hummingbirds.
