Subject: [sbcobirding] COP shorebirding July 15
Not a lot of change in the species makeup today so I decided to do a careful count of the number of Long-billed Curlews on the beach this morning.  I came up with an incredible 139 and I still may have missed a few. As long as the sand crabs hold out, I think they will continue in these high numbers.
I ran into Glenn Kincaid and together, we looked the Dune Pond.  Still two Greater Yellowlegs and two Kildeer, but we discovered the Kildeer pair has 3 chicks.  As we were observing  a couple of Western Sandpipers flew in, so shorebirds may gradually use this place more as the water continues to recede and expose additional mud.
I did not check out Devereux Slough this morning.
