Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] Black Tern on South San Diego Bay
Wednesday morning between 7:20 and 7:35 there was a basic plumaged Black Tern west of J Street along the shore of the peninsula where the glGray tailed Tattler was several years ago. Something flushed a lot of the birds and I'm not sure where it went, but I think it stayed on that peninsula. The flats are disappearing as the tide comes in so the bird could be anywhere nearby, including inside the Salt Works. Needle in a haystack to refineld it, but best bets would be checking the Salt Works ponds visible from 13th and 8th streets or coming back here at the next low tide. There was also a 1-year-old Common Tern in the area.

Earlier in the morning, there was a rare Inland Willett at the the mud-flat east end of Lower Otay Reservoir.

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
