This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, July 7th, 2025.
There was an unconfirmed sighting of a SWALLOW-TAILED KITE at Wildcat Falls
Conservation Area in Merrimack on July 3rd, and there was a confirmed
sighting of a MISSISSIPPI KITE from Newmarket on July 4th.
A MERLIN was seen at Bow Lake in Northwood on July 3rd.
A BRIDLED TERN was seen at the Isles of Shoals, on June 13th and again on
the 18th, and was last reported on July 5th.
12 CORY’S SHEARWATERS and 18 SOOTY SHEARWATERS were seen in offshore waters
on July 3rd.
6 AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHERS were seen at Star Island, one of the Isles of
Shoals, on July 5th.
An adult LITTLE BLUE HERON was seen in the salt marsh just south of Odiorne
Point State Park on July 6th and 7th.
A WILSON’S SNIPE was seen at Old Hancock Road in Hancock on July 3rd. An
uncommon breeder in southern parts of the state.
A LEAST BITTERN was seen along the Upper Coos Recreational Trail in
Colebrook on July 2nd.
A LONG-TAILED DUCK was seen at Great Island Common in New Castle on July 5th
.
A RUDDY DUCK was seen at Pickering Ponds in Rochester on July 2nd.
3 PHILADELPHIA VIREOS were reported from the Webster Cliff Trail in
Crawford Notch in the White Mountains, and 1 was reported from East Inlet
in Pittsburg, all on July 2nd.
2 RED CROSSBILLS were reported from Lempster on July 3rd.
2 WILLOW FLYCATCHERS were seen at Airport Marsh in Whitefield on July 4th.
