After a three-week hiatus, my wife and I returned to our project named "2025 Painted Bunting Discovery Tour." Our outing today, 7/7, took us to the northwest quadrant of the intersection of Highways 7 and 10 in Lenexa. Failing to find any painted buntings along Highway 10, we then headed north and west, checking several spots along the Prairie Star Parkway. As we halted our vehicle at a safe site near the intersection of Canyon Creek Blvd. and Prairie Star Pkwy (coordinates: 38.958099, -94.879799), a female/immature male suddenly appeared from the woods to the west.
