Subject: Pottawatomie Co Calliope Hummingbird
Yesterday evening I had a really good look at an adult male Calliope
Hummingbird that was sitting on my feeder here in St Marys. Identifying
features of the bird were it's very small, stubby appearance with the tail
and wings being almost the same length, the white line separating the eye
from the gorget, and the gorget itself that protruded off the sides of the
neck. I had caught a brief glimpse of him yesterday morning, but he
disappeared and I went about my day, not giving it any more thought until I
saw him in the evening.

I have not seen the bird yet this morning, but I have a trail camera
pointed at the feeder hoping for some images. There is a large Mimosa tree
in the neighbors yard that the hummers prefer this time of year, so they
don't really visit my feeder with any kind of schedule which complicates
the whole viewing process.

I will of course keep everyone updated...
