Hello Everyone,
There are still several spaces available for the Redwood Region Audubon Society sponsored pelagic birding trip scheduled for this Saturday, June 21. Cost is $150 per person. This trip will be aboard the 43' US Coast Guard Inspected Steller Sunrise with Captain Lowell Wallace Jr. This is a full day trip, departing from Woodley Island marina at 7:00 a.m. and returning by 4:00 p.m. So far, the marine forecast is looking pretty darn good, with just enough wind to put the tubenose birds on the move. A recent trip out of Noyo Harbor, just south of us, recorded more than 30 Murphy's Petrels and an astounding 17 Cook's Petrels , among many other species, including hundreds of albatross and shearwaters (see the trip list here <https://ebird.org/tripreport/385981>)!
A team of experienced sea birders will be aboard to help spot and identify birds and other wildlife: Tristan McKee, Rob Fowler, Katherine Wendell, and yours truly shall be among them.
Please contact me ASAP to sign up for this trip, or any of the other monthly RRAS pelagic trips scheduled through November:
- June 21st - July 12th - August 16th - September 13th - October 11th - November TBD
We just need to fill a few more spaces for this June trip in order to make it go, so please spread the word!
`Best,
Sean McAllister, RRAS Field Trip Coordinator <whiteouters...> (707) 496-8790
